Voluntary Arts Week

Portland Rocks is excited to be able to offer a free taster session on Monday 13 May 2013 to all young people with an interest in music, for Voluntary Arts Week.

This is the annual, week-long celebration of amateur arts and crafts across the UK, this year, from 11 to 19 May 2013, and Portland Rocks wants to use this opportunity to show potential new members what the workshops are all about.

On Monday, there will be the opportunity to try various acoustic instruments with help available form music leader Steve Garden and to have a go at playing Samba Junk music, organised by acclaimed junk band percussionist, James Kimber.  The young people of Portland Rocks will be on hand to demonstrate, support and show you just what is possible.

The workshops are held every Monday at the Islanders Club, East Weare Road, Portland, from 5.30 to 7.30pm, during term time, and are open to any youngster living on Portland and the surrounding areas.

Just show up on Monday or to find out more, telephone: 07526 708100
